Syzygium australe

Syzygium australe 'Aussie Compact' (Aussie Compact Lilly Pilly) is a popular, dense evergreen native Australian shrub prized for its tight growth habit and colourful new foliage. It typically grows to a mature height of 3 metres and a width of 1.5–2 metres, though it is frequently clipped to lower heights for formal hedging.

Key Characteristics

• Appearance: Features glossy green leaves with vibrant reddish-bronze new growth. It produces fluffy white flowers in spring followed by edible hot pink or dark red berries in summer.

• Best Uses: Ideal for medium-height hedges, privacy screening, topiary, or large containers in small urban gardens.

• Hardiness: It is highly resistant to psyllids (pests that cause leaf pimpling), making it a cleaner choice for suburban landscapes. It is also drought and light frost tolerant once established
