Pomaderris paniculosa is a shrub with hairy, oval leaves and flowers that bloom in paniclesThe species name paniculosa comes from the Latin word for "in the form of a panicle". 

Appearance

  • Leaves: Ovate to elliptic, with a round or blunt apex 

  • Leaf surface: Upper surface is hairless and shiny, while the lower surface is covered with white and rust-colored hairs 

  • Flowers: Cream-colored to greenish or tinged with crimson, with no petals 

  • Fruit: A dry capsule about 3 mm long with three valves 

Growth

  • Size: Typically grows to a height of 1–3 m

  • Stems: Rusty stellate-tomentose 

  • Branchlets: Many branchlets with soft greyish to rust-colored, star-shaped hairs 

Habitat 

  • Coastal dunes, cliffs, and estuary shorelines

  • Common in South Australia, rare in Western Australia and Tasmania

Uses Useful low screening plant, Suitable for coastal sites, Ideal as hedging plants, and A source of cover for many coastal birds.
