Grevillea 'Robyn Gordon'
A$9.00
Grevillea 'Robyn Gordon' is one of Australia's most popular native shrubs, famous for its ability to produce large, bright red flowers year-round. This hardy evergreen hybrid typically grows into a compact, rounded bush about 1.5–2 metres high and wide, making it an exceptional choice for privacy screens, hedges, or attracting nectar-feeding birds like honeyeaters to the garden.
Essential Care & Conditions
Sunlight: Best in full sun to encourage the most prolific flowering, though it can tolerate part shade (which may lead to a more "leggy" habit).
Soil: Requires well-drained soil. While it's adaptable to sandy or loamy types, it can struggle in heavy clay unless the drainage is improved.
Watering: Extremely drought-tolerant once established. New plants need regular water for the first 8–12 weeks.
Fertiliser: Use only low-phosphorus native fertiliser in spring. High phosphorus levels can be fatal to grevilleas.
Pruning: Lightly prune after a flowering flush to maintain a dense shape and promote new blooms.
Key Features
Wildlife Magnet: The nectar-rich, "toothbrush" style flowers are a primary food source for native birds and bees.
Continuous Colour: Unlike many natives with short blooming seasons, 'Robyn Gordon' is rarely without flowers, peaking in autumn and spring.
Hardiness: It is frost-hardy down to approximately -3°C, though young growth may be singed by heavy frosts.
Available in 14cm pots
