Adenanthos sericeus, also known as the Woolly Bush, is a shrub or small tree that is native to Western Australia. It has soft, silver-grey foliage and small red flowers. 

Appearance

  • Can grow up to 5 meters high and 2 meters wide 

  • Has dense, narrow, soft, grey-green foliage 

  • Has small, red tubular flowers that are a source of nectar for honeyeaters 

  • Has erect branches that are covered in short hairs when young

Growing conditions

  • Prefers full sun, but also tolerant of shade 

  • Thrives in well-drained soil that is rich in organic matter 

  • Can tolerate a range of soil types, including sandy and loamy soils 

  • Prefers slightly acidic to neutral pH 

  • Once established, this plant is very hardy and in some situations needs no supplementary summer watering
